The Hotel

Built quietly,
and with care

DOM began as one idea of how a small city hotel should feel — unhurried, warm, and wholly of Crete.

A small hotel in Heraklion's old city, shaped by an architect's eye and run with genuine care — where every detail is chosen to make your stay feel at home.

Our story

An idea that began with the building

DOM opened in 2014, in a quiet building a few streets back from the Venetian harbour. It was shaped by an architect who wanted something small — a house more than a hotel, where every room could be considered on its own terms.

More than a decade on, little has changed in spirit. Twenty-one rooms, a handful of people who know them well, and a pace that belongs to the old city rather than to the airport.

Design

Materials that age well, light that moves

The palette is drawn straight from Crete — sandstone and olive wood, warm lime plaster, linen, brass gone soft with handling. Nothing is loud. Nothing asks for attention.

Rooms are planned around the light: where the morning falls, where to set a chair for the afternoon. The result is calm by design — a place that feels older and quieter than its years.

Hospitality

Looked after by people who know the city

Service at DOM is personal and unhurried. The same faces greet you each morning; the same people will tell you where to eat, which museum to keep for a rainy hour, and how to find the quiet beach.

We arrived as guests and left feeling we had been staying with friends.
